Southern Lee 24, Lee County 6

SANFORD — Jeremy McLeod scored two touchdowns, including one on a 93-yard run, to lead Southern Lee to a 24-6 victory over Lee County in Brick City Bowl III.

The Cavaliers won The Brick, the trophy awarded to the winning team by The Sanford Herald, for the second consecutive year. Southern Lee won 2007’s game 32-17.

The victory was also new Cavaliers coach Bill Mazcko’s first as a head coach.

Lee County fumbled the opening kickoff on the Southern Lee 20-yard line. McLeod took the first carry of the game to the end zone, giving the Cavaliers a 7-0 lead 12 seconds into the game.

Lee County answered with a 2-yard score by Darius Britton on the first play of the second quarter, but McLeod responded with the 93-yard sprint midway through the period. Cavaliers kicker Jacob Brower added a 47-yard field goal as time expired and the end of the half to send Southern Lee into the break with a 17-6 lead.

McLeod finished the game with 189 yards rushing.
